The Founder of Peace and National Unity – Leader of the Nation, President of the Republic of Tajikistan His Excellency, Emomali Rahmon, accompanied by Dushanbe Chairperson, Rustami Emomali, visited the Dushanbe 2017 Exhibition of Industrial Goods.
More than 50 local companies are participating in the exhibition, where their achievements, in particular, mechanical engineering, food industry, light industry (clothes and footwear), jewelry, production of building materials, aluminum products, handicraft products, and etc. were demonstrated.
At the exhibition, President was informed that during the first eleven months of this year, industrial production amounted to 17,845 million somoni as compared to 2 billion 755 million in the whole of last year.
In order to pursue industrialization of the country, the head of state Emomali Rahmon pointed that the development of real sectors of economy, the creation of a favorable investment climate, the attraction of foreign direct investment will allow to enhance industrial production and increase the number of new jobs.
In this context, it was noted that more than 820 industrial enterprises have been operating in the country since 2015 and they have created more than 20,000 new jobs.
It was noted that in the first eleven months of this year, 163 new industrial enterprises are operating, employing 2,803 thousand citizens.
Tajikistan’s mining industries are developing. Their products are exported to the Russian Federation, the People’s Republic of China, and the Republic of Kazakhstan, Turkey and European countries.
Over the passing years, Tajikistan from the importer’s country has turned into a country of cement exporter. In this context, it was noted that in the first eleven months of this year the production of cement amounted to 2.8 million tons, wall product – 236.2 million pieces, plasterboard products – 1326,4 thous. pieces. Afghanistan, Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan received 945 thousand tons of cement from Tajikistan.
It was also noted that Tajikistan has produced the import substituting products, in particular, bags, aluminum fluoride, sulfate acid, cryolite, and coagulant.
At this exhibition were also shown national handicrafts.
In 2017, Tajikistan has produced 949.4 million somoni worth of light industry. Compared to the same period last year the index of the volume of production amounted to 378,6 million somoni and it has grown by 166,3 percent.
Tajik enterprises have also produced 15713.1 tons of cotton yarn, 2684.3 thousand square meters of cotton fabric, sewing products worth 183.5 million somoni, 894, 715 pieces kids’ school uniform shirts, pants, skirts, shoes, and, 2,410.2 thousand square meters of carpet.
It was noted that the processing of raw materials, particularly cotton fiber, production capacity use and strengthening of its export potential are one of the key factors for ensuring sustainable development.
Currently, in the field of light industry is being implementing the “Program for the development of carpet weaving in the Republic of Tajikistan for the period of 2014-2020″ and “Program for the development of silkworm breeding and processing of silk cocoons in the Republic of Tajikistan for the period of 2012-2020.”
In order to use materials from natural resources, the President of the country instructed for creation of joint ventures with the attraction of foreign investments.
According to responsible persons, the dried fruits are being processed in Tajikistan and are exported to European countries, the Russian Federation and Kazakhstan.
President of the Republic of Tajikistan, Emomali Rahmon, during the conversation with representatives of large enterprises, pointed that industrial production is the basis of the national economy, provides employment, sources of state general revenue, and, in general, the most important factor in resolving social issues.
In addition, in the course of his tour, the Founder of Peace and National Unity – Leader of the Nation, President of the Republic of Tajikistan, His Excellency Emomali Rahmon, accompanied by Dushanbe Chairperson, Rustami Emomali, participated in the opening of the preschool educational institution #68 accommodating 160 students. The head of state also cut the ribbon symbolizing the secondary general education institution #44, and visited its premises.
